He had enclosed copies of the civil birth certificates of Frederick Wilhelm Knichel, and Phillipina and Catharina Opp. Frederick's birth date was listed as 1831, not 1832.

In the year one thousand eight hundred thirty-one (1831) on the third day of the Month of March at two o'clock in the afternoon thereof, the reappeared before me, Carl Brunn, the Mayor of Wallhausen, in my capacity as Official of Personal status, Jacob Knichel, age 40, a tradesman, residing in Wallhausen, in the Governmental subdivision of Coblenz and presented before me a child Male Gender, declaring that this child was born on the third day of the month of March in the year one thousand, eight hundred and thirty one (1831) to him., at ten o'clock in the morning Jacob Knichel and his wife, Angela Voelker (possessing no special skill) residing at Wallhausen, at No. ____, _______ Street, and further declare that they will give the infant the name Friedrich Wilhelm. This Declaration was made, and these Proceedings took place in the Presence of Michael Spira, age 64, by trade a Mason, residing at Wallhausen and Wilhelm Karst age 61, a tradesman, residing at Wallhausen, who, having been read the foregoing, have joined me in affixing their signatures hereto.

NOTE Creuznach nowadays is spelled Kreuznach, and referred to as Bad Kreuznach (for the healing baths found there). Coblenz, nowadays Koblenz, is further North, on the Rhein (Rhine) River. Originally translated Angela Voelker's name as "Waelker".

Asthenia (probably cancer) was listed as the cause of death on the death c ertificate. He died at the age of 57, and lived in St. Louis for 35 years. He arrived in St. Louis in 1854. His place of death was his home at 2901 Hickory. He's buried at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in St. Louis. He obtained citizenship on July 24, 1860 at the Court of Common Plea, St. Louis. There was no record of Frederick serving in the Civil War (searched National Archives in Washington, D.C. on 8/2/1989).

On December 23, 1997, Dave Lossos viewed the Wallhausen Catholic Church records on Microfilm # 0583655 from the Mormon Church. The only additional information from that provided on the civil registration was that he was named after Friedrich Krieg of Schoenenberg (another village not far from Wallhausen).

I, Frederick Willaim (sp) Knichel of St. Louis, Missouri, do make and declare this to be my last will and testament.
After the payment of all my just debts and liabilities I give and bequeath to my son John Knichel my house and lot at 2900 Hickory street in the city of St. Louis State of Missouri, upon condition, that he pay to his sisters namely, Margaretha, Anna, and Philippine Each the sum of four hundred real dollars and upon the further condition, that his sister Philippine shall have until she marries its use of and full access to the small room over the hall of the same house, and free of charge.
I also give and bequeath to same John Knichel my small spring wagon and the gray horse.
I give and bequeath to my son in law John Lassos (sp), my business stand No. 30 in the french market together with the good will of my business, its bay horse and large spring wagon.
The remainder of all my property Real and Personal shall be divided between my three daughters above named in equal shares.
I nominate Mr. Jacob Knichel executor of this will and request that he be appointed as such without hearing required to give bond.
Witness my hand this 6th of June 1889.

Since making the above, I have changed my intentions regarding some provisions in the foregoing will - and therefore make this codicil to same -
It is my will that the amount to be paid by my son John, to his three sisters, shall be three hundred dollars to each, instead of four hundred - and that he shall pay said amounts in installments of $150 - in one and two years without interest.

Francis Nohl was a notary, worked at 404 Market, resided at 1611 S. 12th.
Mrs. Conrad, Louis Rose, and Joseph B. Ambs worked at a pork packing establishment on Lasalle, south-east corner Joab, near Chouteau avenue. In 1905 this was the St. Louis Union Packing Company, located across the street from the Lossos family living at 2901 Lasalle.
One Louis Rose resided at 2703 Chouteau avenue.
Another Louis Rose, laborer, boarded at 1009 N. Fourth.

Miss Mamie Knickle of Prospect Hill, on trip to City, Takes Acid. Ignoring the pleas of her escort, Miss Mamie Knickle, 19 years old, drank an ounce of carbolic acid last night in a shed at the Seven Mile House of Joe Ripley, at 8330 North Broadway, and died a few minutes after being taken to a nearby physician's office. Accompanied by Benjamin Alpaugh of Prospect Hill, the
young woman started to the city last night. While waiting for a Braodway car at the roadhouse Miss Knickle suddenly announced her intention to commit suicide. "I've had much trouble with my relatives and I'm going to end it all by killing myself" she said. Alpaugh tried to cheer her up by laughing at her threats, but she ran from the building to the shed. Before he could reach her side she swallowed the acid. She was carried to the office of Dr. Samuel Van Hoefen at 8313 Hall's Ferry road and died, without regaining consciousness .
Alpaugh was taken to the Baden substation and will be held as a coroner's witness. The young woman's body was sent to the Morgue. Oct. 10, 1909

She died during an operation to remove her tonsils. The operation was performed on the kitchen table at her home. Her brothers and sisters had a lasting memory of the blood stains on the ceiling. The morning of her death, as if she had a premonition, she tried to hide, to avoid the doctor.

Theodore Beilstein, M.D. (no middle initial found) was bom on August 17, 1894 and passed away on October 20, 1961. His funeral services were held on October 23, 1961 at Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope, AL. The funeral arrangements were made by a lady named Mrs. Hattie M. Pfeiffer who lived in Point Clear, AL. It does not list Mrs. Pfeiffer's relationship with Theodore Beilstein. The original obituary listed two brothers, Walter Beilstein and Roy Hanson both of St. Louis, and one sister but did not give her name. Theodore Beilstein is buried in Memory Gardens of Fairhope in Section I Lot 3713 spaoel. He does have a marker in place which reads, Theodore Beilstein, M.D. August 17, 1894- October 20, 1961. There is an emblem on his marker which indicates he was a Shriner. In the space next to Theodore lays to rest Mrs. Hattie Pfeiffer born on October 4, 1888 and deceased on January 9, 1966..Mrs. Pfeiffer owned three spaces right together. She is buried next to Theodore in space 2. Space 3 has never been
occupied.

Dr. Theodore Beilstein, who has made his home in Point Clear for the past 25 years, died there Oct. the 20th at 7:30 p. m. He was a veteran of World War 2, also a Mason and a Shriner.
Dr. Beilstein who was a native of St. Louis, ,Mo.; is survived by two brothers, Walter Beilstein and William Beilstein; one sister, Mrs. Roy Hansen, all of St. Louis, Mo., and other relatives.

John F. Lossos, 65, died Oct. 13, 2002 at his home in rural Williamsville, Mo.
He was born April 8, 1937 in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late Edward and Helen Lossos.
He was united in marriage to Sandra Parent and she preceded him in death in 1995.
Mr. Lossos was a retired electrician for Wappapello State Park. He was a veteran of the United State Marine Corps and a member of the Eagles Lodge.
He is survived by two sons, David Lossos, Old Monroe, John Lossos, Romulus, Mich.; three daughters, Gail Webb, Belleville, Mich., Jamie Karrick, Monroe, Mich., Sandy Edwards, Southfield, Mich.; three brothers, Tom, Ed and David Lossos, all of St. Louis; one sister, Mary Ann Kossmeyer, Sullivan; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
