St. Louis "Sons of the American Revolution - A Lineage Society"

To return to the "Genealogy in St. Louis" Web Site click here.

The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (NSSAR) is a lineage society. This means that each member has documented his family tree back to an ancestor who supported the cause of American independence during the years 1774-1783. Men and women who supported the American cause, in any way, are called patriots.

If you already know that you have a patriot ancestor, contact the Missouri Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (MOSSAR) chapter nearest to your home for assistance with the membership application. See the Chapters page for chapter locations and contacts. You need to document a potential patriot ancestor.

If you aren't sure whether any of your identified ancestors qualify as an American Revolutionary War patriot, don't lose heart. MOSSAR chapter members and genealogists are prepared to assist you with information and provide research advice to you. Contact the chapter nearest to your home for information and assistance. See the Chapters page for chapter locations and contacts. Also, see SAR.org Membership tab for a wide range of information and assistance.
